Hotel: Gretna Hall, Gretna Green (4 nights D, B&B) ***

From 1792, Gretna Hall was a coaching inn and was the first stop coaches made as they crossed the border. Built in 1710 the hotel is set in 10 acres of beautiful gardens offering all the character of a substantial historical building with all the facilities you would expect from a contemporary hotel. All 100 bedrooms have Freeview TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee-making facilities and WiFi. There is also two nights’ in-house entertainment in the hotel.
