Fortwilliam, in the shadow of Ben Nevis is the
capital of the Western Highlands and our ideal base from which
to explore one of Scotland's most celebrated regions. From here
we board the famous Jacobite Steam train to follow the Road to
the Isles, passing the lonesome statue of Bonnie Prince
Charlie's Highlander at Glenfinnan enroute. We take the
spectacular road bridge over the sea to Skye, calling at Eilean
Donan Castle on the way before we are ferried out to the Isle
of Mull, where we spend a little time free in pretty
Tobermory.
The Alexandra Hotel has been part of the very fabric of
Fortwilliam since 1876. It is a very traditional building at
the heart of the town situated between the pedestrian only High
Street and the railway station. There are 93 en-suite guest
rooms, restaurants a bar and lounge area.
