Ben Nevis & The Road to the Isles. From £435

Our base for 4 nights is the 3* Alexandra Hotel, from here we take ' the Road to the Isles' , travel to Tobermory on Mull, and over the bridge to Skye. Price from £435.00

Lochaber is Jacobite country. The statue of the Highlander at Glenfinnan marks the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie began his ill-fated rebellion. Fortwilliam, at the southern end of the Caledonian Canal, is the capital of these Western Highlands and the base from which we take 'the Road to the
Isles', travel to Tobermory on Mull, and over the bridge to Skye.

The Alexandra is a 3 star hotel with a reputation for great traditional Scottish hospitality - "part of the very fabric of Fortwilliam since 1876". There are two restaurants. The lounge and reception areas have recently been completely refurbished and all the 93 bedrooms are ensuite with TV, direct-dial telephone, and tea/coffee making facilities. The great location, in the centre of the town makes it the place to stay when exploring the Western Highlands and Islands.

Our outward journey takes us along the banks of Loch Lomond and through mystic Glencoe to Fortwilliam. We take the steam train through Glenfinnan to Mallaig, passing over the much photographed long viaduct en-route. Later we travel to Portree on Skye via the spectacular Skye Bridge, with a stop at Eilean Donan Castle en-route.  On Thursday we go to Tobermory on Mull and on Friday we return home via Oban and Argyll, calling at the famous Black & White town - Inveraray and crossing the Firth of Clyde by ferry, at Dunoon.
